With the pilot episode, Elevator Girl, complete, and the second episode, Sis & the Saint, nearing completion LARD is looking for interested partners in co-production, or other funding strategies, to develop the concept into a complete film/twelve part television series.

The film is composed of several seemingly unrelated stories, each with its own unique visual style, which unfold as a network of ideas and towards the end make sense as a whole - stories of violence and love, innocence and heroism, ignorance and arrogance. The film is pan South African in culture.

LARD’s mixed-media style is an exciting visual experience, involving South African artists (in the widest sense of the word), their methods, their mediums, and their experiences – showcasing the state of the style of this nation.

LARD’s mixed-media style includes hand drawings, DV footage, computer-generated graphics and 3D. Manipulated, sewn together and edited on digital multimedia systems.

The soundtrack for each story will be scored by a different South African musician; covering the range of popular South Africa genres - e.g. kwaito.

LARD’s story format cleverly allows for maximising screening potential – as a full length feature film or breaking up each story as an episode for a television mini-series.

LARD promises a nutritious, sumptuous intake with fat to chew on.
